In late 2020, the Brazilian Space Agency and the South African National Space Agency started a new era of partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. This approximation brings great opportunities for both countries.

The Space Industry Virtual Summit hosted by ZASPACE, SANSA, the Embassy of Brazil in Pretoria, and the Brazilian Aerospace Cluster and with the support of the Innovation Diplomacy Programme (Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Brazil), aims to bring the space industries of both countries together to foster business partnerships and cooperation.

The first day will set the tone for the summit, introducing key stakeholders, exploring business in both Brazil and South Africa, and demystifying space for business across the Atlantic.


The second day will consist of a variety of B2B networking tables and sessions to further explore and drive trans-Atlantic business for South African and Brazilian businesses and space experts.

Keynote Speakers

Dr Valanathan Munsami

Chief Executive Officer,
South African National Space Agency.

Dr Munsami holds a PhD in Physics, a Masters of Business Leadership, a Space Studies Program Diploma, and a Certificate in International Air, Space and Telecommunications Law.

Carlos Augusto Teixeira de Moura

President of Agência, Espacial Brasileira

Carlos Augusto Teixeira de Moura has a degree in Aeronautical Infrastructure Engineering and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the Aeronautics Institute of technology.

Leehandi has been working in the space industry for the better part of 8 years. Initially, she worked as a consultant to SCS Aerospace Group which comprised of several local companies spanning the full space value chain.

Antônio Yukio Ueta

Antonio Yukio Ueta holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in Plasma Physics from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, completing his PhD in Experimental Semiconductor Physics at the Johannes Kepler Universität in Linz, Austria.

Day One

The first day will kick off the event with an opening ceremony and keynote addresses followed by addresses on country realities by Davis Cook and Joao Paulo Servera. Attendees will then elucidate space for business with addresses from Mike Sage, Alberto Dantas, and more. The day will close off with company introductions by Dr Cesar Ghizoni, Himilcon Carvalho, Jessie Ndaba, and Andiswa Silinga, followed by brief closing remarks.
