Slide SECRETARAIT DIRECTOR OF GEO Prof. Gilberto Camara Prof. Gilberto Camara is the Secretariat Director of GEO and a leading researcher in Geoinformatics, Geographical Information Science, and Land Use Change. He is known worldwide for advocating for accessible software for Earth observation data. As Director for Earth Observation and later Director General of Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research, Prof. Camara lead substantial developments in the monitoring of land changes with remote sensing, ultimately helping Brazil achieve an 80% decrease in deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. DIRECTOR GOOGLE EARTH Rebecca Moore Rebecca Moore directs Google’s geospatial initiatives driving environmental and social impact, including Google Earth, Earth Engine, and Environmental Insights Explorer. She initiated the development of Google Earth Engine in 2009 as a planetary-scale cloud platform bringing an unprecedented amount of satellite data online for the first time, together with petapixel-scale computation, enabling data scientists to easily derive actionable insights about our changing planet. Rebecca also conceived and leads the Google Earth Outreach program, which supports non-profits, researchers, governmental institutions and communities in applying Google's mapping tools to the world's most pressing problems affecting people and planet. Mr. Muofhe oversaw South Africa's growing participation in EU Research Funding programmes, led the mobilization of Official Development Assistance funds to support South Africa science system and the establishment of partnerships with Multinational Companies. Mr. Muofhe was, in his role as DDG for International Cooperation, central in mobilizing international support for South Africa’s bid to host the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope in Africa

Andiswa Mlisa Ms Andiswa Mlisa is the Managing Director of Earth Observation directorate at the South African National Space Agency (SANSA). Prior to joining SANSA, she was at the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) Secretariat, based in Geneva, Switzerland, responsible for the coordination of the AfriGEOSS initiatives and capacity building. A graduate of the Universities of Fort Hare and Stellenbosch in GIS and Remote Sensing, she spent her early career years developing geospatial solutions for water resource management and disaster risk reduction. She aims to use her over 17 years of experience and passion for developing partnerships in Earth observations & space applications initiatives to mainstream use of Earth observations for service delivery.
